A little about Kari

Abstract Immpressionist

Kari Swanson is an artist in the Charleston, South Carolina area.

"I am intrigued with the areas colors, diversity, beautiful scenery and interesting people. I try to incorporate all of these images into my work. The intensity of the colors and vibrancy of Charleston and the surrounding area are a constant inspiration for my work.

Kari primarily uses acrylic paint, but also likes to experiment with chalk, ink and cray-pas in her work. She uses texture and color to reflect the image and its' movement. This creates a feeling and a mood. Kari wants to allow the viewer to see all that is present in her work and through their interpretation make a personal connection with the piece

She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago as a young artist, and continued her education later in life at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Her studies were completed in the art program at Miami University of Ohio.

Kari has been represented in galleries in Beaufort, South Carolina; Asheville North Carolina and Charleston, South Carolina. She was a gallery owner and exhibitor at the Low Country Artist Gallery, Ltd. In Charleston, South Carolina.
